Transformative Conversation

This one day course teaches individuals to adopt and employ a conversation competence that is highly effective for creating authentic connection and empowering others to action and commitment. A cornerstone of this course is the first guiding principle of transformative coaching and it is highly relevant to daily interaction in the workplace.

Perceive and accept each person as already whole, capable, resourceful and creative

Participants explore this principle and identify the implications to relationships with people at any level and engaged in any type of workplace activity. From this foundation, the balance of the day focuses on specific conversation skills in five key areas.

  1. Stop internal dialogue that prevents a person from being present with another and available for full listening.
  2. Listen without preconception or assumption.
  3. Notice what is said that has meaning and/or what may be omitted.
  4. Identify underlying attitudes, beliefs and assumptions that may unconsciously block forward movement, solutions, partnership and achievement.
  5. Ask powerful questions that create new awareness, reveal limiting beliefs and generate new possibility.

Three telephone learning labs follow the course to anchor the skill set and sustain incorporation of the principles into workplace interactions.
