Mentor Coach Learning Objectives

  • Confidence & competence in recognizing the observable behaviors & skills of the ICF Core Coaching Competencies.
  • Develop additional levels of listening and ways of being as coach and mentor simultaneously.
  • Experience first-hand mentoring of your own coaching to anchor skills that are second-nature and identify and access your next horizon of skill expansion.
  • Acquire guidelines for best practices as a Mentor Coach.
  • Receive templates and processes for individual and group mentoring engagements.
  • Engage in peer practice for integration of the mentor coach knowledge and skill set.

Session Content

The course will be delivered over 14 weeks of 2-hour Tele-Courses plus weekly triad field work and three 60-minute 1:1 mentor coaching sessions.

  • WEEK 1: set expectations, define learning agreements, bonding/connecting, setting the foundation
  • WEEK 2: explore definition, purpose, additional Core Coaching Competencies specific to Mentor Coaches, best practices; begin focus on one ICF Core Coaching Competency per week (from 2 thru 11)
  • WEEKS 3 thru 12:  focus on mentor & core coaching competencies; weekly mentoring learning lab
  • WEEK 13: templates and processes for group and individual engagements, mentor coaching agreements
  • WEEK 14: completion and celebration of the learning

Three (3) 60-minute individual mentor coaching sessions for each participant [this opens the opportunity for participant to obtain 3 letters of recommendation that meet the current ICF MCC credentialing requirements].

inviteCHANGE Purpose of Mentor Coaching

The purpose of mentor coaching is to be coach and mentor simultaneously. In this capacity, the mentor hears what is present in a coach’s skill set and facilitates what else is possible so that, over time, the coach rapidly and easily increases their facility and ability to artfully demonstrate the ICF core coaching competencies with excellence, confidence, competence and unique self-expression. A Mentor Coach co-creates opportunities for continuous learning and self-reflection as well as ongoing skills refinement tailored to the coach’s inner landscape and learning style.
